Unsure About Filtration Setup? Start with Sieve Bends

Apr. 10, 2026

Sieve bend screen are made of stainless steel wedge wires. They are consist of a concave curved profile wire screen, which are inserted into a stainless steel frame. The wedge wire sieve bends are manufactured by wrapping and welding stainless steel V-shaped profile wire and support rods. Then the panel screens are cutting and curved into arc screen. The wedge wire sieve bends have continuous slots, which has efficient filtering performance. Forces exerted as materials flows against the curved surface, curved screen structure has better filtering and greater capacity than the wedge wire screen panel.

Main Features of Wedge Wire Sieve Bend Screen

Lateral Strength

Increases rapidly with the width of the profile and sufficient is needed to avoid the likelihood of the wedge wire screens being bent sideways and the accuracy of the slot being thereby lost.

Vertical Strength

Increases rapidly with the depth of the profile. And it is needed to a greater degree than is lateral strength.

Better Filtration

Due to specialize manufacturing process, wide range of slot opening is available down to 0.15mm to allow proper slot selection depending upon the size of sand in particular area. This gives better sand control and reduced pump maintenance and longer tube well life.

Long Wearing Life

With abrasive materials the top surface of the profile becomes worn away and inevitably the aperture must increase. With a small angle of opening the increase is gradual, but with a large angle it is rapid. The apertures quickly reach the oversize limit and the working life is reduced.

Non Clogging Slots

V-Shape wire which gives inwardly widening V-Shape slots. This shape doesn’t give space for any sand particle to get stuck inside the slot and these screens are non clogging. Hence, the efficiency of tube well isn’t reduced over years due to clogging.

Applications of Sieve Bend Screen

Sieve Bend Screen is widely used in solid-liquid separation processes across multiple industries due to its simple structure, high efficiency, and low maintenance requirements. Below are the most common application fields:

Wastewater Treatment

Sieve Bend Screens are commonly used in municipal and industrial wastewater plants for primary solid removal. They help separate suspended solids, reduce load on downstream equipment, and improve overall treatment efficiency.

Food and Beverage Processing

In food production, Sieve Bend Screens are used to separate pulp, peel, and solid residues from liquids such as fruit juice, starch, and dairy wastewater. They ensure product quality and support hygienic processing.

Pulp and Paper Industry

They play a key role in fiber recovery and wastewater screening. Sieve Bend Screens help reduce fiber loss while improving water recycling efficiency in paper production systems.

Mining and Mineral Processing

Used for dewatering and classifying fine particles, Sieve Bend Screens help separate valuable minerals from slurry and reduce water content in processing streams.

Chemical Industry

In chemical production, they are applied for solid-liquid separation of process fluids, ensuring stable production and protecting downstream equipment from contamination.

Starch and Corn Processing

Sieve Bend Screens are widely used in starch extraction lines to separate starch milk from fiber and impurities, improving product purity and yield.

Slaughterhouse and Meat Processing Wastewater

They help remove organic solids, fats, and animal residues from wastewater, reducing environmental impact and improving compliance with discharge regulations.

Municipal Sludge Dewatering

In sludge treatment systems, Sieve Bend Screens assist in preliminary dewatering, reducing moisture content before further processing.

Textile Industry

Used for wastewater filtration, they help remove fibers, lint, and suspended solids generated during dyeing and washing processes.

Brewing and Fermentation Industry

Sieve Bend Screens are applied to separate mash residues and improve liquid clarity during beer or fermentation broth processing.

FAQ: Sieve Bend Screen (Wedge Wire Curved Screen)

1. What makes a sieve bend screen different from flat screens?

Unlike flat panels, a sieve bend screen uses a curved design that naturally increases separation efficiency. The curved surface improves material contact time, helping achieve higher throughput without requiring additional energy input.

2. How do I choose the right slot opening size?

The selection depends on particle size distribution and separation goals. In general, finer slots are used for high-precision separation, while larger slots are suitable for higher flow capacity. A proper analysis of feed material is recommended before selection.

3. What causes performance decline over time?

Performance can decrease due to wear, improper slot selection, or excessive particle loading. Regular inspection and correct initial design help maintain stable operation over long periods.

4. Do sieve bend screens require frequent maintenance?

Generally, they are low-maintenance. However, periodic cleaning is recommended in applications with high organic content or sticky materials to prevent buildup and ensure stable efficiency.

5. How do I know if my application is suitable for a sieve bend screen?

If your process involves continuous solid-liquid separation with moderate to high flow rates, it is likely suitable. A basic evaluation of particle size, concentration, and process conditions is recommended.
